Welcome to Daily Power Words

This site is for all with a deep passion for writing. Whether you are an aspiring writer, seasoned pro, or just looking for valuable content to add to your personal journaling - this site will offer you something. This site features resources and information for professional writers, those who journal, and those who are thinking about taking the leap into freelance writing.

What writing has done for me

Through my life, writing has been a method of healing. It has helped me find myself, allowed me to watch my progress and pitfalls, and most of all it has helped my soul to express itself. What started out as a hobby has now become my passion. For the past several years I have began pursuing writing as a profession by doing some freelance writing. I also am pursuing a degree in electronic communications and web design. I have finally allowed myself the freedom to pursue the career path of my dreams. For those of us who are writers - it is often difficult to accept that "yes this is what I am". For me anyway, I always put my "writer title" in the future - by saying on someday I'm going to publish a book, or pursue more writing jobs etc. What I have learned is that when we refer to ourselves in future tense - our writing aspirations will always stay in the future.

My gift to you

Through these pages I will share my writing experiences both personal and professional, resources I love, and provide a place for others to share information and gain support on their writing journeys. I feel all beings have something of value to share with others. It isn't always easy to "bare your soul" for people to view, but it can be a very healing experience. Even if you never share what you have written, perhaps you can take something from here that will help you in your personal growth.

What are daily power words?

Through my writings I use techniques that I have learned on my personal path in a simple but powerful approach. I don't believe in talking circles around things. I prefer to get straight to the point, while still providing material that encourages personal reflection. I use my exercises to provide a seed or an idea that leads the reader on his/her own journey.

It was in this spirit that the Daily Power Words were born. It started off as a personal journaling exercise where I would come up with a simple concept and elaborate on it by expressing thoughts, emotions, symbology that came to me. As I did this, I began to notice things about myself, my thought patterns, secret habits and I found it to be very enlightening and healing. It helped me find hidden strength and talent, and also shed light on many of the challenges I was facing.

Eventually, I narrowed it down to starting with one word, a daily "mantra", bringing out all of the positive connotations of the word - it's "power". I used that to develop visualizations, more journal entries, or whatever I needed to keep myself motivated on my quest for healing and wholeness. I learned so much in the process, and it was so healing to me, that I decided to start sharing them with others. I hope that you will enjoy them also.

Resources for breaking into Freelancing

Whether you are a just getting your feet wet or are already a seasoned pro - hopefully the resources I provide on my blog will help you in furthering your writing career. I love to share information, experiences, and provide support. I feel that a blog is a great way to share these things, and get feedback from other writers. We can all learn from one another - so please feel free to share openly here - you and others will all benefit.
